Blue Hill Helicopters: Making Helicopter Charter Easier with Moove

Interview with Braveen Mahendran, Chief Pilot at Blue Hill Helicopters, September 2026

‍

New York City, USA – September 25, 2026 – For helicopter operators, charter has always come with a certain level of complexity: every trip can involve different aircraft, departure points, availability, waiting times and pricing considerations. But for customers, that complexity does not have to define the experience.

For Blue Hill Helicopters, a growing Massachusetts-based operator, making charter simpler and more accessible has become an important part of its growth strategy. After starting as a helicopter flight school, Blue Hill expanded into sightseeing tours and charter operations, creating a business that now serves customers across multiple segments of helicopter aviation.

Making Helicopter Charter Easier to Book

From an operator's perspective, charter flights naturally involve a lot of moving parts. From a customer's perspective the experience should be much simpler.

“For some reason, we make it more complex than it is for the user. The user should not be trying to see all of this complexity, that should only be on the back end.” Braveen Mahendran, Chief Pilot, Blue Hill Helicopters

This customer-first approach was one of the reasons Blue Hill chose Moove. The platform gives customers a straightforward way to request and book helicopter flights, while handling the operational complexity behind the scenes. Customers can enter a street address, a golf course or another location rather than having to know which airport or heliport they need: an important advantage in an industry where flights often operate from

less familiar locations. For operators, the result is a more accessible digital storefront for their charter business, without requiring customers to understand how helicopter operations work.

The First Booking: From Request to Revenue in Minutes

Blue Hill's first booking through Moove quickly demonstrated the potential of this approach. A customer wanted to fly from Nantucket to Martha's Vineyard. The flight takes around 10 minutes, but with limited scheduled options between the two islands, a charter offered the customer greater flexibility and privacy.

The customer submitted the request through the Moove widget on Blue Hill's website.

Within minutes, the Blue Hill team was able to confirm availability and send a payment link. The customer completed the booking with just a few clicks.

“They put in from A to B, and then immediately we sent them availability and the payment link, and then it was booked within minutes.”

Before Moove, the same process would have involved checking availability, communicating back and forth with the customer, confirming the details and sending a separate payment link. The new process reduced that friction significantly. And the strongest validation came the following day: the same customer booked another flight.

For Blue Hill, the first transaction demonstrated that a traditionally complex charter process could be turned into a seamless customer journey through Moove.

With a diverse helicopter fleet ranging from the Robinson R44 to the Bell 206, Blue Hill Helicopters serves a wide range of sightseeing, charter, and aircraft management missions throughout the Northeast.

More Than a Booking Platform

For Blue Hill, however, the opportunity with Moove goes beyond making individual bookings. The operator sees digital technology as a way to connect more of the processes involved in running a helicopter business, from customer booking and charter management to aircraft operations. That could include sharing trip information with crews, communicating fuel stops, sending confirmations to owners and customers, and bringing more operational information into one connected workflow.

Building the Future of Helicopter Operations

Moove is expanding its platform beyond the traditional booking experience: connecting the customer journey with the operational side of the business.

For operators, digitalization can mean more than simply putting a “Book Now” button on a website. It can create a more direct distribution channel, reduce manual work, improve the customer experience and ultimately make helicopter travel easier to discover. As Moove continues to expand its capabilities across charter, aircraft management and helicopter experiences, operators can benefit from a platform built specifically around the realities of the industry. For Blue Hill Helicopters, that journey has already begun:

“I would definitely recommend Moove. Mostly because of the team behind it: everybody listens, pays attention to detail and is willing to work to make an even better product and service.” Braveen Mahendran, Chief Pilot, Blue Hill Helicopters

Blue Hill’s first booking through Moove represents another milestone for the helicopter industry: a glimpse of what helicopter operations can look like when the complexity stays behind the scenes and technology puts the customer first. For operators that combine charter and high-volume sightseeing operations, the next opportunity is bringing those different business lines into the same aviation-specific platform.
